10 Supercars The Porsche Taycan Turbo S Is Faster Than, And 3 It Isn’t

2 / 15
10. Chevrolet Corvette
0-60 mph: Less Than 3 Seconds
Chevrolet has not yet published a specific acceleration time for the 2020 Corvette C8. However, the company confirms that the speed comes up quicker than three seconds. This suggests the new ‘Vette might be a blink of an eye behind the Taycan in a sprint to 60 mph.
3 / 15
9. Lamborghini Huracan Performante
0-62 MPH – 2.9 seconds
With a 5.2-liter V10 pumping out 630 hp (430 kW), the Lamborghini Huracan Performante can hit 100 kilometers per hour in 2.9 seconds and eventually reach a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph). At a price of $274,390 in the United States, the Lambo still carries a cost premium over the $188K Taycan Turbo S.
4 / 15
8. Ferrari F8 Tributo
0-62 MPH: 2.9 Seconds
The Ferrari F8 Tributo is the brand’s recent replacement to the 488 GTB. It boasts a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 making 710 hp (530 kW), and the coupe can reach 100 kph in 2.9 seconds. This Prancing Horse borrows styling elements from classic models like the 308 and F40, but the new model still isn’t quite as quick to 62 mph as the Taycan.
5 / 15
7. McLaren 600LT
0-62 MPH: 2.9 Seconds
McLaren uses the LT moniker, which stands for Long Tail, for models that are something special. Using the 570S as a starting point, the 600LT has more power at 592 hp (442 kW) and less weight. The tweaks let it reach 100 kph in 2.9 seconds, rather than 3.2 seconds for a 570S.
6 / 15
6. Lamborghini Aventador SVJ
0-62 MPH: 2.8 Seconds
The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is the big brother to the Huracan Performante, taking a track-focused attitude and marrying it with a V12 engine. The 6.5-liver in the SVJ now pumps out 759 hp (566 KW) and is able to rocket the coupe to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds. Prices for the SVJ start at $517,700, making for quite an increase compared to the $180K Taycan.
7 / 15
5. Acura NSX
0-60 MPH: 2.9 Seconds
According to Acura’s spec sheet, the NSX can hit 60 mph in an estimated 2.9 seconds. Still, that’s three-tenths of a second slower than the Taycan. However, at $157,500, the NSX is the first model on this list to come close to the electric Porsche’s price.
8 / 15
4. McLaren 720S
0-60 MPH: 2.8 seconds
The McLaren 720S uses its 710 hp (537 kW) to reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. A quicker model is on the way soon, though. The 750 LT allegedly has 740 hp (552 kW) from the brand’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Reduced weight should help acceleration, too.
9 / 15
3. McLaren Senna
0-60 MPH: 2.8 Seconds
On a track, the McLaren Senna is a star. However, accelerating to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds means that it’s a hair slower than the Taycan.
However, the Senna would rocket away at higher speeds. Porsche limits its EV’s maximum velocity to 162 mph (260 kph), and the McLaren can hit 211 mph (340 kph), according to the official specs.
10 / 15
2. Porsche 918 Spyder
0-62 MPH: 2.6 Seconds
The Porsche 918 Spyder was the first plug-in electric vehicle from the brand to go on sale to the public. With a total of 875 hp (643 kW) from the V8 and pair of electric motors, the supercar gave a taste of the potential that comes with electrification. Now, the Taycan takes the next step by being a full EV.
11 / 15
1. Porsche 911 GT2 RS
0-60 MPH: 2.7 Seconds
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the ultimate 911 variant from the 991 generation of vehicles. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six pumps out an impressive 690 hp (515 kW), and the available Weissach Package sheds nearly 40 pounds. Still, the brand’s official figures put the GT2 RS a fraction of a second behind the Taycan in a run to 60 mph.
12 / 15
Not Quicker Than A Ferrari SF90 Stradale
0-60 MPH: 2.5 Seconds
The upcoming Ferrari SF90 Stradale is not a direct successor to the LaFerrari because the new model leans more towards being a grand tourer. However, without the success of the LaFerrari’s hybrid powertrain, it’s hard to imagine the Prancing Horse creating another high-output electrified vehicle like the SF90.
The new hybrid Ferrari uses a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and three electric motors to make a total of 986 hp (735 kW).
The brand is keeping the price and total production number under wraps, but look for that info to arrive before the end of 2019.
13 / 15
Not Quicker Than A Tesla Model S
0-60 MPH: 2.4 Seconds
Since they are both premium, electric sedans, it’s only natural to compare the Porsche Taycan against the Tesla Model S.
When looking at the acceleration to 60 MPH of the Taycan Turbo S and Model S Performance, the Tesla wins out. It can hit 60 in just 2.4 seconds, while the Porsche needs 2.6 seconds.
For a much deeper dive into the Tesla versus Porsche fight check out this story from Motor1.com’s partners at Inside EVs.
14 / 15
Not Quicker Than A Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
0-60: 2.3 Seconds
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has a single-minded purpose of covering the quarter-mile as quickly as a road-legal vehicle can. With up to 840 hp (626 kW) available from a supercharged V8, the muscle car proves that there is still life left in gasoline-fueled performance, even if the age of the EV is rapidly approaching.
See which vehicles new Porsche Taycan owners need to be afraid of during a stoplight drag race.
The Porsche Taycan is finally here, and Motor1.com already has a deep dive into all the factors that make it so special. The official acceleration figures are among the bevy of details that Porsche now makes public about its new EV.
Gallery: 2020 Porsche Taycan
The range-topping Turbo S trims hits 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 2.6 seconds, and 62 mph (100 kph) in 2.8 seconds. With these times in mind, let’s do some bench racing to see how Porsche’s first all-electric production vehicle stacks up against a variety of modern supercars.
Keep in mind, this isn’t a definitive list of every vehicle that the Taycan Turbo S could potentially beat in a straight line, just some intriguing examples of how powerful the new Porsche is. Check out the final three slides to see a trio of machines that the Taycan can’t take on quite yet.

Back to School Tips for Your Car

Back to School Tips for Your Car

It’s back to school time! If you’re a car owner, chances are, you’ll be using your vehicle to take your children to and from school, ferrying them from the gym to a study group to wherever. Yes, you and your vehicle will be caught up with all the goings-on of school activities. Hence, we thought giving you some back to school tips may come helpful.

Most probably, your car still has the traces of summer – dusty exteriors, bird droppings, and bug marks here and there, and a not-so-pleasant interior smell brought about by the lingering odors of all those snacks and lunches you consumed during your road trips. This is why you need auto preventive maintenance and our back to school tips to get your car ready for this busy period – so you and your loved ones will be safe the whole school year through.

Back to School Tips: What Your Car Needs

If your car can talk, it would want you to follow these simple back to school tips:

1. Check Your Tire Pressure

Start off by checking what’s the recommended tire pressure for you specific case. If your tires are under-inflated, you’ll be spending more money on fuel and worse, a new set of tires. It’s because improper inflation can cause the tires to wear and tire faster by 5%. Additionally, your auto will use 2% more fuel. Worse, under-inflated tires can lead to tire blowouts which can compromise your safety on the road.
You can prevent this from happening by checking your tire’s pressure at least once a month. You can have it checked when you have your car detailed or do it yourself with the help of a tire pressure gauge. Either way, it is one of our top recommended back to school tips to follow!

2. Change the Oil and Check All Fluids

Check your owner’s manual. It’ll tell you when your car is up for an oil change. If it’s time, then change the oil immediately. Your car’s oil is its lifeblood. It lubricates all the essential parts of your vehicle. If it becomes too thick, it’ll cause the gears of your vehicle to rub against each other. This can wear them away faster. And when you’re at it, check the other fluids of your car, too – transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, etc.

3. Do Some Headlights Restoration

Your headlights help keep you safe when you’re driving at night, especially during rainy or snowy evenings. They allow you to see what’s ahead and at the same time, help other drivers see you.
That’s why cleaning car headlights is a must-do back to school tip. Check your headlights. Are they foggy and yellowish? That calls for headlight restoration. You’ll have to wet-sand them to remove all that fog and yellowing, clean them, then wax them.

4. Prepare for the Unexpected

Pack your car with all the things you may need in case of emergency. An auto tool box, some food, flashlight with extra batteries, a couple of blankets, a few bottles of water, and of course, a well-inflated spare tire.

5. Back to School Tips for the Interior

Is your car smelling of onions from burgers and pizzas you’ve eaten during your summer trips? Is your car making you sneeze? Then don’t be satisfied with a clean interior alone. Sanitize it! Steam clean car ac vents and switches, seats, carpet and upholstery to get rid of germs and bacteria that may be lurking inside the deep, dark crevices of your vehicle. Unremoved, these can cause you and your loved ones to get sick.

6. Back to School Tips for the Exterior

A clean and shiny car does more than boost your self-confidence. For one, a waxed car has an extra layer of protection against stone chips, sand, and other contaminants that can damage your car’s paint. A clean and shiny car also fortifies it against the elements of nature – snow, rain, or UV radiation.

7. Go for Specialty Detailing Services

For the ultimate quality car care in summer, avail eco steam detailing specialties like pet hair removal, leather conditioning, stain removal, and so on. This will give your car that showroom shiny finish and a classy appearance to head into fall with.
We hope you enjoyed our back to school tips. This will ensure you and your children will have a safe and healthy ride all day, every single day.
